What’s on the Table

• Fiction: Short stories, flash, micro fiction, and other fictional work.
• Nonfiction: Research, criticism, history, reporting, essays, opinion, conversation, and other nonfiction.
• Personal Essays: Personal essays, memoir, flash, micro essays, and other work rooted in lived experience.
• Poetry: Poems, sequences, prose poems, micro/flash poems, verse, and other poetic work.
• Hybrid & Experimental: Work that crosses genres, forms, or conventions. Collage, lyric essays, fragmented narratives, and work that doesn’t quite fit the usual boxes are welcome here.
• Folklore & Cultural Work: Folktales, retellings, cultural history, oral traditions, and work rooted in folklore, cultural memory, or storytelling traditions.
• Art: Illustration, painting, drawing, collage, printmaking, mixed media, digital art, and other visual work.
• Photography: Fine art photography, documentary photography, photo essays, portraiture, and other photographic work.
• Something Else Entirely?
  Don’t see a category that fits your piece? Send it in! We welcome work that breaks the mold. If you feel it belongs in Table Salt Press, pass it over.

House Rules

• Please submit your own original work.
• Please submit work that speaks to the theme of the current issue. While we’re open to interpretation and welcome work that approaches a theme from an unexpected angle, submissions should have a meaningful connection to the issue’s theme.
• Previously published work is welcome, provided you retain the necessary rights to publish it with us. By submitting, you confirm that you have the right to grant Table Salt Press permission to publish the work.
• Simultaneous submissions are welcome. If your work is accepted elsewhere, please let us know as soon as possible so we can withdraw it from consideration.
• We do not accept AI-generated or AI-assisted work.
• Please submit one piece per category per reading period.
  Poetry: up to 2 pieces
  Flash: up to 2 pieces
  Micro fiction: up to 2 pieces
  Photography: up to 5 pieces
  Art: up to 5 pieces
• Need to withdraw a submission? Just contact us and let us know.
• We aim to respond within 5 days. If you haven’t heard from us by then, your piece is still under serious consideration.
• If 10 days pass with no word, drop us a line—we’d rather double-check our inbox than lose your work!
• Table Salt Press is currently a non-paying market. There is no submission fee.
